Our artist residency offers a flexible partnership with local artists. We offer residencies of 1-2 months in which artists works will be displayed in either our cafe or sancutuary gallery or both.
Unlike traditional, often isolated, rural residencies, our residencies are public-facing, focusing on community engagement and integrating art into daily life.
They are also incredibly flexible to the needs and avaliability of the artist
Duration: Most artists choose to display their work at The Well for 1-2 months so that those who visit the centre can be enriched and so that friends and appreciators of the artists work can visit the exhibited work.
Compensation: Art can also be offered for sale through the Village Well with the artist recieving 80% of the proceeds and the remainder going to fund our NFP community work
Showcase/Workshops: Artists are given the opportunity to take up opportunities of both a showcase night and workshops.
Showcases can be ticketed and catered for by our wonderful Village Well catering team.
Artists are also invited to host a workshop during their residency and be paid for their time with the Village Well coordinating sales of tickets and marketing for you.
Both of these are optional and not a requirement of residency
Workspace/Studio: Artists are also welcome, as they are able and interested, to use a dedicated space at the centre work, allowing participants in the centre to watch the artistic process. This is also an optional benefit rather than a requirement of residency.
The Benefits of a Village Well residency
- For the Artist: Provides a unique, environment for inspiration, free workspace and workshop space, and direct access to a new audience.
- For the Village Well: We believe that art actively benefits the wellness of everyone, enriching our atmosphere and the programs offered in it and fostering connections between the local community.
